Hi All/Ciao a Tutti,
I went in search of this photo today. It was buried with old Italy photos from a solo trip I took throughout the country back in the 90's.
After an hour or so of going through all the places I store my photos: boxes, albums, envelopes, folders, etc...pre-digital error obviously, I was delighted to find it. However, after the initial celebration, I found myself hesitate for a second. At face value, this is a small photo, only 3” x 5” in size. It’s not the most overwhelmingly beautiful photo I’ve ever taken, yet it sent me on a mission, with strong intention, to view it again...to have it handy...to share it with you.
As I continued to look at it, I remembered. I had made a last minute decision to stop in Ischia. It wasn’t in my original plan as I headed south to Calabria. I had been sitting in Piazza Navona in Rome, pulled out my trusty guide book (senza internet in those days) and chose to make a pit stop on this beautiful island and spend a few days.
The morning was so beautiful and crisp, and I felt as if I had all the time in the world, and would spend that time just sitting here on my balcony, drinking my cappuccino, sipping my acqua minerale, listening to the sounds of nature, as I stared out at the beauty surrounding me. I felt as if I could sit here for the rest of my life.
This is what sent me in search of this photo. I wanted to feel that feeling again. I needed to be reminded that travel; that life, is most precious in the small moments that make our hearts smile.
Buon Weekend & Big Love, PatriciaG
